Not badges. Real patchwork.
Panels, Not Patches
This is patchwork in the leatherworking sense. Different pieces of leather are cut and sewn together into one jacket, so the front, back and sleeves each carry a different block of colour. There are no military badges or embroidered patches here.
The flight shape underneath is simple: a snap-down collar, a brass zip and flapped pockets. The panels do the decorating.
No two jackets will look quite the same, because the panels are cut from different pieces. That is part of the appeal, since every jacket carries its own pattern, and the contrast stitching shows where each piece joins.
Inside the Patchwork Flight Jacket
- Mixed leather panels: brown, tan, black and rust.
- Contrast stitching: seams show on the surface.
- Snap flap pockets: two on the front.
- Brown knit trim: cuffs and waistband.
Fit and Care
The cut is regular. Take your normal size for room to layer. Because the panels vary, wipe the jacket gently with a dry cloth and avoid strong cleaners, which can change the shade of one piece. Condition the leather lightly, a couple of times a year.
The Patchwork Flight Jacket is one of the Men’s Flight Jackets at New USA Jackets. A close cousin worth a look is the men’s distressed brown leather a-2 aviator flight jacket.
